Eleven years in prison. That will be the sentence for Finnish-Canadian fashion millionaire Peter Nygård, according to several media outlets. Nygård has previously been convicted of four cases of sexual assault in Canada against young women and a girl who was 16 years old at the time of the assaults.
It was already in November last year that the now 83-year-old Nygård was declared guilty of the crimes by a court in Toronto. In connection with the sentence being announced, Judge Robert Goldstein said that Nygård should be seen as a serious sex offender.
Peter Nygård was born in Finland but moved as a child with his family to Manitoba in Canada. As an adult, he founded his own clothing company bearing his name, and he became one of the country's richest people. The company went bankrupt after the allegations against him became known.
