"That our appointment is not renewed, we believe has to do with our personal commitment against the genocide in Gaza", say Athena Farrokzhad and Ida Linde in a statement.
Culture House Stadsteatern tells Dagens Nyheter that Farrokzhad's and Linde's appointment as program managers for the International Writers' Scene has always been time-limited.
Previously, Stadsteatern has been criticized for the duo's strong political commitment to Palestine. In the statement, Farrokzhad and Linde now mean that their private posts on social media have been scrutinized and that they have been questioned when they invited guests with a Palestinian background.
Culture House Stadsteatern's cultural director Linda Beijer means that they have not been influenced by the criticism.
"When their commitment was debated in the media about a year ago, I chose to extend their appointments. We have time-limited appointments for all our artistic responsible", she writes in an SMS to DN.
The appointment for the International Writers' Scene expires in June.
