"Tonight, due to the enemy's shelling, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant lost its power supply from one or two external lines that temporarily connect the occupied power plant to Ukraine's energy grid", the report states.
Currently, the power plant is said to be receiving power from a single line. If it is knocked out, there is a risk to safety, the department warns according to the media company RBC.
Ukrainian personnel will begin repairing the lines as soon as safety permits.
This is the third time in November that the power supply has been threatened. According to Ukraine, the only way to guarantee safety is for the power plant to be returned to Ukrainian control.
The Russian-occupied nuclear power plant is out of operation and does not produce electricity. To ensure that the safety systems function, the facility, Europe's largest of its kind, is instead dependent on external power.
