After several days of sky-high electricity prices in the southern half of the country – on Saturday, prices plummet, according to the electricity exchange Nord Pool.

The average price during the weekend in both electricity area 3 and 4 (the southern half of the country) falls to 23 and 29 öre per kWh, down from around 1.50 during Friday and over three kronor on Thursday. In Norrland, the price is almost steady at 14-15 öre.

Lower electricity consumption during the weekend, milder weather, and more electricity production from wind power are the main explanations.

In addition to the stock market price, electricity tax, VAT, and electricity grid fee of over one krona per kilowatt-hour are added.
