Two Danes, an American, a Briton, and two Australians died earlier in November after a night out in the popular tourist town of Vang Vieng.

A man in his 30s who runs a hostel in the town has been arrested, along with seven employees. According to local media reports, all those arrested are from Vietnam.

Vang Vieng is a popular hub and party destination for tourists traveling around Southeast Asia. Several countries have now urged citizens on the move to be cautious about what they drink in Laos.

”Be cautious when drinking alcohol, especially cocktails and drinks containing spirits that may have been adulterated with harmful substances,” wrote the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs on its website last week.
