Taking the European Championship gold and Olympic Games gold and setting a world record in athletics – then you can be elected as Europe's best for 2024.
This is what the Swedish pole vault star Armand Duplantis and the Ukrainian high jumper Jaroslava Mahutjich did. Duplantis improved his world record in the pole vault three times this year to finally 6,26 meters. Mahutjich improved the 37-year-old world record in high jump by one centimeter to 2,10 meters.
The prize was awarded at the Golden Tracks gala in Skopje in North Macedonia. Duplantis was not present.
