When France trained ahead of the match against the Netherlands in the European Championship, a masked Kylian Mbappé was present. National team captain Didier Deschamps hopes that the superstar can play the match.
Kylian Mbappé, who broke his nose in the European Championship opening win against Austria on Monday, trained wearing a face mask in the French flag colours alongside his teammates on Thursday.
And it's a welcome piece of news for France.
For there has been talk that Mbappé can play against the Netherlands on Friday as long as the face mask is cleared.
Everything is going in the right direction. He was able to train lightly yesterday and it's the same today. It's developing as it should, says national team captain Didier Deschamps.
We'll do everything we can to get him to play tomorrow.
Thursday's training was of the lighter variety and several of Mbappé's teammates made fun of the superstar's new mask.
"Without risks, you can't take any wins", Mbappé wrote on Instagram.
The Netherlands started the European Championship by beating Poland 2-1 after coming back from behind.
