In an interview with NBC News, Fyre founder Billy McFarland says he hopes to gather 3,000 visitors on April 25-28 and that the event will take place on a Mexican island, which he does not name. He does not mention any booked artists, but says he has hired a production company specialized in festivals.
They will take care of the stages and toilets and all that stuff that I'm obviously not good at, he says.
Ticket prices will range from $1,400 to $1.1 million. The most expensive festival package will, according to McFarland, include luxury yachts, diving, and island-hopping with private planes.
The first Fyre festival was marketed as a luxury experience on Pablo Escobar's private island in the Bahamas, with bands like Blink 182 and Migos as headliners.
But it ended in chaos for the local workers and a fiasco for the influencers who had hoped for a music festival beyond the ordinary. There was nowhere to stay, no food or water, and all artists and bands chose to withdraw.
The festival's founder Billy McFarland was convicted of fraud after the festival and was released from prison in 2022. The events were also depicted in a notable documentary on Netflix.
