Couple drops out of "Love at First Sight"

After an anything but successful weekend, two of the participants in SVT's "Married at First Sight" choose to throw in the towel in this week's program. I was so angry and frustrated during the last two episodes, says Hector Lopez about the lack of response from the newlywed husband.

"Love at First Sight – in Winter Clothing" has been described as the season of great contrasts. But for Hector Lopez, 40, and Magnus Johansson, 46, it was precisely the differences that upset the applecart.

Early on, it became clear to both that the attraction was lacking, and the couple agreed to leave the reality show prematurely.

We didn't click at all. I tried, anyway, maybe Magnus did in his own way, but I would have needed a bit more to stay in the relationship and the program, says Hector Lopez.

The Support Was Lacking

Already at the altar, Hector felt that Magnus wasn't the kind of guy he would have chosen himself, but was still open to giving the relationship a chance.

The experts said they had found the perfect match for me, and since my own attempts to find a partner hadn't succeeded, I thought this was what I needed.

Sex therapist Delphine Cartier, the new expert for the season, was the one who was supposed to guide the couple in their relationship, but Hector Lopez says that a production mistake meant that the support was partially lacking.

We thought she was more informed about how the relationship was going, but apparently, she didn't get to see the filmed material, so she didn't know how bad things were when we were on our way to the couples' weekend.

More Private Time

Hector Lopez also says that he found it difficult to discuss things with the expert more privately, without the cameras rolling.

When I first expressed that I didn't feel much attraction to Magnus, they immediately brought out the cameras and asked me to elaborate, but sometimes you need to "think aloud" without it being broadcast on TV, says Hector Lopez.

Despite everything, he doesn't regret his participation in "Love at First Sight".

Even when things were storming the most in the relationship, I felt a lot of warmth and goodwill from both the production and the experts. If I hadn't been part of it, I would probably always be wondering what I had said no to.
