The municipally-owned Louis De Geer Hall in Norrköping has found a new owner. It will be the hotel chain Elite Hotels of Sweden that takes over the disputed concert hall.

"A good day for Norrköping", says the chairman of the municipal council Sophia Jarl (M) in a press release.

Last year, it was announced that Norrköping Municipality was preparing to sell Louis De Geer Hall. At the time, Sophia Jarl stated that the concert hall had to become more self-sufficient.

The announcement came in connection with the municipality's decision to both withdraw the service as culture and leisure manager and place the culture and leisure administration's activities under a new "super office" intended to promote growth and development in the municipality.

An initiative was then formed in Norrköping, aiming to collect the 11,000 signatures required to hold a referendum in the municipality on the plans to sell the concert hall.

However, only half of the necessary signatures were collected.

The operating company behind Louis De Geer Hall is now being sold to Elite Hotels of Sweden, while the property remains in the municipality's ownership.

In the press release, Norrköping Municipality writes that the 23 people currently employed by the company will be able to keep their jobs.

The transfer will take place on January 2, 2025.
