It will be exciting to be part of Ski Classics. It is important that Sweden in general and especially northern Sweden gets another international skiing event, not least considering that we get less and less snow out in Europe, says Göran Hedemalm, chairman of Nordenskiöldsloppet.
The 22-mile long competition in Lapland wilderness north of the Arctic Circle goes from Jokkmokk to Njavee and back. The world's longest skiing competition was founded as early as 1884 and the track is the same as back then.
The competition, which is decided in classical style, takes place on March 29, 2025. The race starts at 05.00 in the morning and the skiers have 30 hours to complete the race.
Last season, the winning time for the men's winner Oskar Kardin, Östersund, was 12 hours and 44 minutes, while the women's winner Sofia Lindberg, Robertsfors, finished after a little over 14 hours of skiing.
Nordenskiöldsloppet will be part of Ski Classic Challengers, which is one step below the Pro Class where, for example, Vasaloppet is included.
Participants can collect World Cup points in both pro and challenger competitions.
