Frustration over punctures may be over in the future, at least if the Japanese Bridgestone innovation succeeds well.
The company has, together with the French Michelin, developed a tire that can never get a puncture, which in turn would facilitate self-driving cars, writes Financial Times.
The tire, which does not contain any air, should be able to drive at 60 kilometers per hour and handle vehicles weighing one ton. A challenge is, however, the cost – the tires are significantly more expensive to manufacture than their traditional counterparts.
