The trio takes on the lead roles in a new comedy show that premieres at the Oscar Theatre in Stockholm on September 13.
It's a privilege, I get to work with two of my idols. It feels incredibly fun, says Anders Jansson.
Although the humor icons' paths have crossed before, not all three have played in the same show before. Now they unite in Ray Cooney's farce "Out of order" – which in Swedish has been given the title "Trassel" – directed by Edward af Sillén.
This will be a new and very funny combo. Even though we're about the same age, we've worked on different projects at different times, says Robert Gustafsson.
Laughter fest at high tempo
The show, which revolves around a complicated love affair in a hotel room in 1960s Stockholm, is described as a real laughter fest.
It has an extremely high tempo. The audience will be swept over by the action, situations, and comedy, says Robert Gustafsson.
They agree that there is a need today to gather in a room and laugh together.
It feels completely right now with a pure comedy show, says Robert Gustafsson.
Rehearsals start this summer, and until then, they are all busy with other projects. Robert Gustafsson with film, including participating in Ulf Malmros' "Grannfejden" which is expected to premiere in the fall. Anders Jansson with the film podcast "Bio min bio". They both long to stand on stage again.
I'm really looking forward to it, even though it's physically demanding. Playing farce is like a Vasalopp for actors, says Robert Gustafsson.
Anders Jansson agrees.
You have to be there 100 percent every show, which is exhausting. But that's also what's fun, he says.
Attracting younger audiences
They think they see that a younger audience is being drawn to the theater and hope that "Trassel" will also achieve this.
When I went to the theater as a young person, it felt like I was the only one. But that's not the case today, says Edward af Sillén.
Peter Dalle plays Sweden's Minister of Defense and Robert Gustafsson his personal assistant. Anders Jansson takes on the role of a greedy and unpleasant waiter.
Sussie Eriksson, Ola Forssmed, Per Svensson, and Anki Albertsson are also on the cast list.
