Klingberg leaves Frölunda – bound for Finnish club

The autumn season has not turned out as Frölunda back Carl Klingberg had imagined. Now it is clear that the forward is leaving Frölunda. The club announced this on Sunday. "It's clear, it feels melancholy," he says to the club's website.

"We want to thank Calle for his efforts on the ice and we will miss his wonderful personality", says Frölunda's sports manager Fredrik Sjöström to the club's website.

Carl Klingberg has been a crowd favorite during his time in the club. But after 86 matches in the jersey since his return in 2023, it is now clear that he has done his part in the Gothenburg club for this time.

"I am a Gothenburger and a big Frölunda fan, and the thought was to stay here, but it didn't turn out that way, hockey decided. Of course, it feels melancholic, but it can also be something nice", he says to the club's website.

Instead, a new foreign adventure awaits. Namely to the Finnish top club Ilves.

The 33-year-old has signed a one-year contract, with an option for an additional year.

"It's fantastic to get a player as motivated as him to Ilves", says the Finnish club's sports manager Timo Koskela.
