Earlier during the championship in Italy, Melina Andersson finished fourth on K1 1,000 meters, but during the last World Championship day, the Swede struck.
The race included a total of five lifts of the canoeist and Andersson excelled during the run, which gave her a gap against the other top competitors, writes the Swedish Canoe Association in a press release.
In the end, she was a full 44 seconds ahead of second-placed Susanna Cicali, Italy, at the finish and over a minute ahead of third-placed Anna Margrete Sletsjøe, Norway.
