A car has exploded in a residential area in Saltsjöbaden outside Stockholm. No one was injured.
We received alarm calls from several directions, the explosion was heard towards Tyresö and Brandbergen, but there was no extensive destruction at the scene, says Daniel Wikdahl, press spokesperson at the police.
The case is classified as reckless endangerment and the police have cordoned off the area, awaiting the national bomb squad.
When they are finished, we can proceed with a technical investigation.
In parallel with this, patrol units are going door-to-door in the area to gather witness statements.
The police do not want to comment on whether they have any idea about a potential motive.
There is nothing I can say about that at present, says Daniel Wikdahl.
The alarm came around midnight.
