Canada lists Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist group and simultaneously urges Canadians in Iran to leave the country.
The decision was announced by Dominic LeBlanc, Minister for Public Safety, during a press conference.
The organisation has previously been labelled a terrorist organisation by the USA.
The Revolutionary Guard was established shortly after the Islamic Revolution in 1979 to protect the new religious state system.
It consists of ground forces, air force and navy, as well as the notorious Basij militia and Quds Force, which is responsible for foreign operations.
The organisation also has control over a large part of Iran's economy and is very powerful politically.
