The suspected object that caused a larger police operation in Kalmar on Sunday turned out to be a bomb decoy. The incident is now being investigated as a false alarm, reports P4 Kalmar.
The alarm came from the public at lunchtime and led to an area being cordoned off and the national bomb squad being called in. The cordons were not lifted until the evening.
It takes significant resources from us. We are forced to prioritize away from other things that we would rather have done and that are much more important, and it also affects people's mobility when we cordon off, says acting local police area chief Karl Ljungqvist to the radio.
