An old sea mine exploded in Orrholmsviken in Mariebergsskogen in Karlstad during the night to Thursday.

The mine was found at 18:00 by a magnet fisherman and was probably a relic from World War II. The bomb protection decided to detonate the find at 01.26.

It was a real bang, so we got many calls afterwards, especially since it exploded in the middle of the night, says Martin Tysell, duty officer at the police.

It could have gone really badly, so it was lucky that it didn't explode when they fished it up.
