A man in his 40s has been sentenced to nine years in prison for having struck a man in his 60s in the head with an axe, reports P4 Kalmar.
The attempted murder occurred in Nybro in April this year. The man in his 60s was struck in both the head and on the body and suffered life-threatening injuries.
The men are acquainted with each other from before, and according to the radio, they have had family-related conflicts. One week before the attack, the younger man wrote to a relative that he was making a sharp weapon and that he would "take" the victim.
The convicted – who denies the crime – shall also pay over 273,000 kronor in damages.
