When Olmo was recruited from Leipzig before the season, he was only registered for play until the turn of the year. To be able to register him for further play, Barça had to meet the league's "financial fair play" rules before the deadline expired, something they failed to do.
That Barcelona has eventually got enough money to meet the rules does not seem to help the club, since the league means that you cannot re-register a player whose license has already been withdrawn this season.
This has stirred up strong emotions in Barcelona, which is now expected to take the matter further to Spain's national sports court.
