Jontay Porter, who was previously banned for life from playing in the NBA, now acknowledges his involvement in match-fixing.

I am deeply sorry, he said recently in connection with a court hearing.

In April, the news broke that the 24-year-old NBA star Jontay Porter was banned for life for match-fixing. But it is not until now that he acknowledges the crime.

According to the New York Post, Jontay Porter has admitted in court that he provided tips to individuals about matches where he could intentionally influence the outcome.

It concerns two matches, where he intentionally left the games at an early stage after having tipped four men to place bets on his performances in the relevant matches.

Jontay Porter explains that personal gambling debts were the reason for his actions.

I know that what I did was wrong and illegal. I am deeply sorry, said Jontay Porter in court.

Now, Jontay Porter, who played for Toronto Raptors, risks four years in prison.
