24-year-old Guillaume Diop is the Paris Opera's first black principal dancer, also known as "Étoile", and is considered the most exciting name in French classical ballet right now.
He was recently seen during the Olympic Games opening ceremony when he danced on a roof, and this fall he will appear on the Swedish Royal Opera's main stage in the new ballet "Gustavia", which is about the unknown Swedish prince who was enslaved in the West Indies before coming to the Swedish court as a gift.
The ballet has choreography created by Pär Isberg and a script written by Amir Chamdin, film director and musician.
"Gustavia" with Guillaume Diop will have its world premiere at the Royal Opera on October 18, with additional performances: October 24, November 2, November 6, and November 9.
