It was in October 2021 that Alec Baldwin fired a shot with a weapon that was supposed to be loaded with blanks – but which turned out to be live.
The shot hit and killed photographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.
The fatal accident has been followed by a prolonged legal aftermath. The film's weapons handler was sentenced to one and a half years in prison, and even Alec Baldwin risked imprisonment for manslaughter. But last summer, it was unexpectedly announced that the trial against the actor was dropped.
Now, three years after the accident, the western film "Rust" premieres at the Energacamerimage film festival in Polish Torún.
The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion about the accident with, among others, Joel Souza. Alec Baldwin, one of the film's lead actors and producers, will not be present, writes The Hollywood Reporter.
