It is important that the victims receive quick help, says Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer.

It is primarily the flood-affected in the region of Niederösterreich who are covered. The authorities state that everyone who has already applied has received payment, a total of around one million euros (approximately eleven million kronor). This is only a fraction of the billion euros available in a disaster fund, reports the news agency APA.

Niederösterreich is one of the most affected areas, since enormous amounts of rain from the storm Boris last week came to parts of, among others, Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Italy. The rain has collected in overflowing rivers, and affected several regions as the water masses slowly made their way downstream.
