The former national team player Olof Mellberg becomes the new head coach in St Louis City SC in the American MLS, according to information to Sportbladet. Mellberg, who is a coach in Brommapojkarna, is said to have accepted the assignment and is expected to travel to the USA shortly to sign the contract.
His merits as a former top player are said to have been one reason for the choice, the coaching job he has done in Brommapojkarna and Helsingborgs IF another.
Mellberg's assistant coach in Brommapojkarna, Andreas Engelmark, may possibly follow Mellberg to St Louis.
According to Sportbladet, the choice ultimately stood between Norwegian Brann's Eirik Horneland and Mellberg.
