In an appeal, published in Aftonbladet, over 30 well-known Swedish entertainment profiles are urging that Hamburger Börs in Stockholm should be saved. The venerable show restaurant is threatened with closure due to high rents, and in the appeal, the celebrities are urging the landlord Vasakronan to reconsider.

"A meeting place where thousands and thousands of people, both Stockholm residents and visiting tourists from all over Sweden, have laughed, danced, and enjoyed good food and drink since 1956, will reasonably leave a large void", write, among others, Helen Sjöholm, Tommy Körberg, Danny Saucedo, Björn Skifs, and Pernilla Wahlgren.

In the appeal, the entertainment profiles write that a living cultural city needs "a healthy mix" of institutional theaters, private theaters, concert halls, rock clubs, free theater groups, dance companies, opera houses, and not least restaurant scenes:

"We survived the pandemic, it would be bitterly ironic if a state-controlled landlord is allowed to break Hamburger Börs shortly after? Save the Börs!"

Hamburger Börs is currently winding down its operations, which are expected to be completely closed by December 31st. The background is that the current owner Moment Group and the landlord Vasakronan have not agreed on the rent.

"The Börs", as the establishment has also been called, has been home to restaurant shows and concerts with Swedish and international artists such as Lill Lindfors, Björn Skifs, Cornelis Vreeswijk, Monica Zetterlund, Johnny Cash, and Liza Minnelli.
