The dairy company Arla has made a bid on the Egyptian Arabian Food Industries Company (Domty), the company writes in a press release.

The bid values the company at 183 million dollars, equivalent to nearly 2 billion kronor, and would give Arla a majority stake.

Domty is a listed dairy company with around 4,000 employees. Arla writes that the ambition if the bid goes through is to delist the company from the stock exchange, but the current owner family will remain as minority owners.

The Middle East and North Africa are Arla's second-largest market after Europe.
