The situation looks bright for arctic foxes in the Stekenjokk area, in Jämtland and Västerbotten counties. Reason: There is plenty of food.
They have it quite favorable up there now, as it's about to become a lemming year, says nature guardian Dan Persson to SVT News Jämtland.
The last time it was a real lemming year in the Stekenjokk area was 2011.
When Dan Persson checked the area a few days ago, where there are several dens, he saw five arctic foxes.
They were out and running, it was good activity.
The arctic fox has long been endangered, but the situation has improved thanks to supplementary feeding. Last year, about 70 litters were born in Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Jämtland.
