226 healthcare workers have been killed in Lebanon since the Gaza War broke out last year, according to information from the World Health Organization WHO. The UN agency says that they were primarily killed in clashes between the Iran-backed Shia militia Hezbollah and Israel in the border area between the two countries.
On Friday, seven more people employed at a hospital in Baalbek were killed in an Israeli attack. One of the dead was reportedly the head of the hospital, according to Lebanon's Health Department.
The Gaza War was triggered by the large-scale attack by terrorist-listed Hamas on Israel on October 7 last year. Hezbollah is close to Hamas. In September, Israel launched an offensive primarily targeting Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon. 70 percent of the 226 healthcare workers have been killed since then.
