Martin Bresman, head of the National Unit against Corruption at the Prosecution Authority, will then be the first Swedish prosecutor at Eppo's headquarters in Luxembourg. At the same time, Eppo can start its operations in Stockholm, where two European prosecutors will be stationed.

Eppo investigates and prosecutes crimes against the EU's financial interests. This can include fraud, money laundering, corruption, and bribery.

The operations started in 2021, but Sweden initially chose to opt out.

"Sweden's membership in Eppo means better opportunities for more effective cooperation to combat crime, recover criminal profits, and protect Swedish taxpayers' money," says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (The Moderate Party) in a comment.
