On October 12, a new border crossing system will be introduced at all airports and ports in Sweden that have connections with countries outside the Schengen area.
This means that all those coming from countries outside the EU must leave fingerprints and have their faces photographed when traveling into the country.
The purpose is to strengthen internal security in Europe.
The great benefit is that we strengthen around who is within the EU, how long you have been here and that we let in the right people, says Louise Wahlberg at the police.
The system is being introduced at the same time throughout the EU and is expected to become fully digital in the long term with a central database, which all member states will have access to. At a border check, the system can, for example, flag that someone has been too long in the EU or is wanted.
Even if EU citizens are not directly affected, the extended checks can lead to queues initially.
Waiting times may become a little longer, says Louise Wahlberg.
