The premiere will take place on September 11 at the festival, and next year the series is expected to be shown on SVT and Arte France. This is reported by Deadline.

"With 'Faithless' I wanted to explore how we learn to tolerate what we once couldn't tolerate. I wanted to tell a story about love's remarkable ability to grant mercy and forgiveness", says Tomas Alfredson in a statement.

The series depicts a love triangle in two different time periods between a married couple and the husband's best friend. The cast includes, among others, Gustav Lindh, Jesper Christensen, Frida Gustavsson, and Lena Endre.

The script for the original version was written by Ingmar Bergman, with Liv Ullmann as director. Lena Endre also participated in the original version as an actress.

Tomas Alfredson has previously directed the films "Let the Right One In" in 2008, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" in 2011, and "Se upp för Jönssonligan" from 2020.
