Norway's Marius Borg Høiby to Lose Diplomatic Passport

Norway's suspected "bonus prince" Marius Borg Høiby will lose his diplomatic passport, according to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The withdrawal takes place after the court has introduced new rules which mean that neither Høiby nor Princess Märtha Louise's three daughters may have such passports.

We have reviewed the use of diplomatic passports with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and come to the following conclusion: Those who should have diplomatic passports are the members of the royal family as well as Prince Sverre Magnus, Princess Märtha Louise and Princess Astrid, says the court's communications manager Guri Varpe to the weekly magazine Se og Hør.

Others in the royal family travel with regular passports, a practice that has been in use for the past six months, according to Varpe.

Marius Borg Høiby is Crown Princess Mette-Marit's son from a previous relationship. Over the past year, he has been accused of a number of crimes, including rape, assault of former girlfriends and threats. He has admitted to some of them.

During the summer, the preliminary investigation against the 28-year-old was completed, which includes 23 crimes. It is now up to the prosecution authority to decide on any potential prosecution.
