Trump revealed the plan in connection with a phone call with European leaders on Wednesday, according to two sources that The New York Times refers to.
No one other than the three mentioned above is to participate in the second meeting, something that the European leaders – who have tried to play a coordinating role in getting an end to Russia's war in Ukraine – are reported to have accepted.
Trump's message comes after the US envoy Steve Witkoff met Putin in Moscow on Wednesday.
–The Russians expressed a desire to meet President Trump, and the President is open to meeting both President Putin and President Zelensky, says the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt according to AFP.
It was not immediately clear if Putin and Zelensky had accepted the plan, but Zelensky said in a statement that his and the European leaders' stance is that "the war must come to an end", but "an honest end".
Trump and Putin last met face to face in connection with the G20 meeting in Osaka, Japan, 2019.
