A preliminary assessment has been made that something has detonated at an entrance and material damage has occurred. Technicians have been called in to determine what has detonated, says the police's press spokesperson Susanna Rinaldo.
There is no information that anyone has been injured.
The police have initiated an investigation into reckless endangerment and offenses against the law on hazardous and explosive goods.
We have cordoned off the area so that we can work undisturbed, we are conducting witness interviews, we are carrying out door-to-door inquiries and are naturally searching for a perpetrator, says Rinaldo.
No one has been arrested.
According to TT's photographer on the scene, it appears that something has exploded inside a store. There are shards of glass on the street and on parked cars nearby.
