Ludvig Åberg's knee problems made themselves known in connection with him finishing second in his major debut, the US Masters, in April.
After a shorter competition break, the successful Swede – recently turned 25 years old – could play as planned during the summer.
He was operated on in New York City the week after the PGA Tour's final tournament, in early September.
"Itching in my fingers"
I had four weeks without golf. During the first two, I didn't miss it at all, if I'm being honest. But the last couple of weeks, it started itching in my fingers a lot, he says.
The Swede has still had plenty to do.
Besides rehabilitation training, he has managed to fit in some sightseeing in New York City and also taken care of arranging a permanent and private residence in Ponte Vedra outside Jacksonville, Florida.
Luckily, I could still walk, so my girlfriend and I stayed in New York, did the city a bit, and behaved like tourists. It was fun. After the house purchase, there have been a lot of household chores lately.
I've probably become old and gotten many adult points.
Ready for comeback
Despite reports of successful rehabilitation, Ludvig Åberg chose to postpone his comeback. He skipped the final tournaments on the DP World Tour, previously the European Tour, in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
But now the star is ready.
He will play The RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia, where he will return as the defending champion after taking his only PGA Tour win so far.
I feel 100 percent, otherwise I wouldn't be here, he says. I'm actually a bit stronger now than I was before, so that's good, he says, and means that it feels special to be back on the course where he won last year.
It's a place I really like coming to, and golf has been fantastic for me so far, so I'm looking forward to continuing with that.
