The police have tightened up routines and guidelines for passport handling throughout the country, according to P4 Östergötland. This is since a former civilian employee at the police was prosecuted for having manufactured false passports at the passport office in Norrköping last year.

The passport administrator is suspected of having produced seven false passports during the previous spring. One of the passports was discovered by German authorities when a person from Syria used it to enter the EU from Dubai. During the interrogation, the administrator stated that she wanted to help a acquaintance's relatives get into Sweden.

The trial, where two more people are also standing trial, begins on Tuesday.
