An adult man and a child have been found dead in a residence outside Kristianstad. Another child was found injured and an investigation into murder and attempted murder has been initiated.
It's deeply tragic, says the municipality's communications director Eva-Marie Hagström.
Regarding the deceased man, the police have initiated a death investigation.
It's not a murder investigation that has been initiated regarding the death, says the police's press spokesperson Robert Loeffel.
The injured child is being treated at the hospital. Chief Prosecutor Pernilla Åström does not want to comment further on the child's condition, but says that the police have been able to talk to the child.
The alarm about a suspected death on the site outside Kristianstad came via SOS at around 21:00 on Thursday.
Murder investigation
We went there with an ambulance and rescue service and found an adult deceased in the villa. Upon further investigation in the villa, we found a minor deceased and another minor injured. It was taken to the hospital, says the police's press communicator Fredrik Bratt.
An investigation has been initiated into murder and attempted murder regarding the children.
The adult had a relationship to the two children, says Robert Loeffel.
The prosecutor describes an intense investigative work during the night, which continued on Friday. She does not want to provide any details about what happened, nor comment on the children's age.
We haven't thought of saying that yet, out of consideration for them themselves, says Pernilla Åström.
Support persons on site
The municipality has activated its POSOM group, a group for psychological and social support, and will have support persons in the church's parish home.
Of course, the school and leisure center are also informed to be able to answer questions from students and parents, says Eva-Marie Hagström.
It's about a small community, she emphasizes.
It's deeply tragic for all those affected. We're doing everything we can to support the citizens there and all those affected, what we can do.
