A serious accident occurred in the starting gates during the Swedish Derby at Jägersro gallop on Sunday.
The failure in the starting gates, which are used to ensure that the horses start simultaneously, was caused by a technical fault that broke the construction, according to Svensk Galopp in a press release.
One member of the staff was slightly injured in connection with the accident and was taken to hospital by ambulance. No horses were near the starting gates at the time.
The accident stopped all remaining competitions, and the races that were not completed will be held on Monday evening, using starting gates from Göteborg galopp.
There was no other alternative, says Svensk Galopp's sports manager Dennis Madsen to Sydsvenskan about moving eight races forward.
