The TV debate, the first and perhaps the only one, between the American presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris was watched by 67 million viewers in the USA, according to the measurement company Nielsen.
It was significantly more than the approximately 51 million who saw Trump's debate with President Joe Biden at the end of June, a debate that led to Biden dropping out of his re-election campaign a month later.
Kamala Harris said after the debate that she would like to see another one, but Donald Trump has not agreed to it. Fox News has offered to host one, if there is to be another.
Later this fall, the two vice presidential candidates JD Vance, Republicans, and Tim Walz, Democrats, will meet in a TV debate.
