According to the indictment, he planned to shoot and kill a person on behalf of another. Another 16-year-old boy was also indicted, but he was acquitted by the Södertörn District Court for involvement in the murder plans.
It was in July that the now convicted 16-year-old was arrested at T-Centralen in Stockholm. He was then on his way to take the train to Malmö to carry out a murder in Denmark. He had received the assignment from a person he had communicated with on an encrypted communication service.
The other 16-year-old was arrested the same day and was charged, among other things, with helping to buy the train ticket.
Convicted of preparation
The boys were charged with preparation for murder and aiding preparation for murder, respectively.
However, the court does not believe that the 16-year-old's plans were so advanced that the act can be considered preparation. Instead, he is convicted of two cases of preparation, since he both took on the assignment and tried to get others to commit the planned murder in his place.
14-year-old girl
In police questioning, the 16-year-old has explained that he felt pressured to take on the assignment.
I just wanted someone else to take over so I didn't have to do it, he said in the questioning.
In the case, a so-called witness indictment has also been brought against a 14-year-old girl who is also suspected of being involved. The court believes that it is established that the girl is guilty of aiding preparation for murder, although she cannot be sentenced to any punishment due to her young age.
