Ski World Championship in Trondheim this winter has so far sold 100,000 tickets, reports Adresseavisen.

The milestone came as a pleasant surprise, as the Norwegian organizer had hoped to reach the number before the final inspection by the International Ski Federation, FIS, on October 15.

We are very pleased to have reached the milestone, says World Championship chief Åge Skinstad.

Skinstad also reports that interest in cross-country relays, 50km, and ski jumping is particularly high.

During the World Championship in Holmenkollen 2011, 100,000 tickets were sold by the end of October the year before the competition.

Given the interest in cross-country skiing lately, it's quite exciting that we're at the same level as then, says Skinstad.

The goal is to sell 220,000 tickets.

The World Championship will take place from February 26 to March 9, 2025.
