rent tribunal
The regional rent and tenancy tribunal (hyres- och arrendenämnden), part of the Swedish courts, which settles disputes between tenants and landlords. It can decide whether a rent is reasonable, give or refuse permission to sublet and try other tenancy questions.
You start a case with a written application to the tribunal for your area. In most cases both sides are called to a meeting where the tribunal tries to help you agree. The tribunal does not investigate on its own, so you must send in everything it needs.
A second-hand tenant who has paid too much rent can, in some cases, ask the tribunal to have part of it paid back.
