Regional rent and tenancy tribunals

What it handles: whether a rent is reasonable, permission to sublet, disputes between tenants and landlords, and, since 1 July 2026, rent levels under the new law on private renting of homes.

How to reach it: send a written application to the tribunal for your area. In most cases the tribunal calls both sides to a meeting and tries to mediate. Each tribunal has its own page and number at domstol.se.

Where people get stuck: the tribunal does not investigate on its own; you must send all the information it needs, or the application can be dismissed.
