Zelensky on the row with Trump: Bad for both

This is not good, for both sides, says Zelenskyj about the quarrel with Trump, in an interview with Fox News.

He further emphasizes that Ukraine was ready to sign the agreement that gives the USA access to Ukrainian natural resources.

This deal was prepared by our delegations, it was not easy, says Zelenskyj, who was forced to leave the White House without signing, after the two presidents got into a long and heated quarrel in front of the TV cameras.

Apologize?

Zelenskyj says that it is now up to the American side whether there will be an agreement.

I believe that the USA wanted this agreement, we were not against it.

A mineral agreement does not stop Putin from attacking, but the agreement could have been a first step towards reaching an agreement with the USA on the security guarantees required for a sustainable peace, according to Zelenskyj.

Zelenskyj is asked by Fox if he needs to apologize to Trump after the failed meeting.

I think we must be very open and very honest, and I'm not sure that we did anything wrong, answers Zelenskyj and emphasizes that he respects Trump.

But it was bad that the quarrel took place publicly, in front of the TV cameras, he admits.

I just want to be honest, and I want my partners to understand the situation correctly.

The relationship with Trump

Asked about whether the Ukrainian president's relationship with Donald Trump can be saved after the disastrous meeting, Zelenskyj answers:

Yes, of course. This is about more than the relationship between two presidents.

This is about historical relationships, strong relationships, between our peoples.

Zelenskyj emphasizes that a sustainable peace cannot be achieved until there are security guarantees in place that deter Putin from attacking again.

We are ready for peace, but we must have a strong position. We must know that our army is strong, that our partners are with us, and that we have security guarantees.
