Without mentioning any names, Volodymyr Zelenskyj is clearly critical of some colleagues when he addresses Europe's other heads of state and government at Thursday's summit in Budapest.
Some of you who are here have strongly advocated for Ukraine to make "concessions" to Putin. This is unacceptable for Ukraine and unacceptable for all of Europe. Peace is the reward only for the strong. Therefore, there is no other alternative than a strong Europe, says Zelenskyj in the speech, which has also been published on the presidential office's website.
Zelenskyj also talks about his quick conversation with the USA's incoming president Donald Trump.
Of course, we do not know exactly what he will do. But we hope that America will become stronger. It is the kind of America that Europe needs, says the president.
At a press conference after the meeting, he simultaneously expresses concern about what a too rapid end to the war would entail.
We want a fair end to the war, but I fear that a very rapid end would result in Ukraine being divided, says Zelenskyj in Budapest.
