Won the LPGA Tour – Took Home a Historic Prize Sum

It rattled heavily on golf star Jeeno Thitikul's bank account on Sunday. The world number seven took home the tour final of the LPGA tour and raked in the historic prize money of four million dollars, equivalent to almost 44 million kronor. A prize money that is the largest ever in women's golf.

It is double the amount that the winner of last year's tour final took home and almost as much as Nelly Korda, who has earned the most this year with her seven wins, took home.

But Thitikul had to fight hard for the win on Sunday.

It looked for a long time like it would be American Angel Yin who would take it home. But after an eagle by Thitikul on the 17th hole, it was completely even before the final hole. And there, the Thai woman would draw the longest straw.

A birdie made her 44 million kronor richer, and thus won both the entire LPGA tour and the table of most earned money with an enormous margin.

Four Swedes had qualified for the competition at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida. But none of them managed to threaten any top placements. The best Swedish player was Linn Grant, who finished in a tie for 22nd place with –9.
