During the fourth quarter, wind power produced 14.1 TWh of electricity, while nuclear power reached 12.4 TWh. The largest was hydropower with 16.2 TWh, according to Svensk Vindenergi, whose statistics are based on Svenska kraftnät's figures.
In December, wind power was the largest power source, even larger than hydropower.
"It's high time we get used to wind power being the largest power source, especially during the winter. Wind power delivers best when electricity is needed the most – 60 percent of wind power's annual production takes place during the cold half-year," says Anton Johansson, market analyst at Svensk Vindenergi, in a comment.
Looking at the entire year, nuclear power is still larger than wind power. Hydropower is, as usual, the largest producer of electricity in Sweden.
