A TV series that involves sex, intrigue, and at least one dead body, and which also portrays luxury resort guests as the absolute worst kind of guests, should not necessarily be a particularly appealing concept for real-life resorts.
Instead, it has been the opposite. At several Thai luxury resorts, guests are spending wildly in an attempt to create their own "White Lotus" moments.
Four days after the premiere, we had three groups checking in and upgrading to three-bedroom suites at the last minute, says JJ Assi, hotel manager at Four Seasons on Koh Samui, where a large part of the third season of "White Lotus" was filmed.
Suites starting at $10,000, equivalent to over 100,000 Swedish kronor, per night, including a private pool and butler.
